Sadie thought life in the quiet village of Riverford was predictable—until a cryptic warning from her strange neighbour and the arrival of the notorious, battle-scarred hunter known as Garrick the Wild shatters her routine. As tensions rise and suspicions fall on Garrick for a murder he swears he didn’t commit, the villagers cower before a vindictive King's Guardsman who declares Garrick must hang, forcing Sadie to decide who to trust: the villagers and the King's Guard who are certain he's guilty? Or Garrick, one of the feared Black Huntsman said to be cursed and possessed by evil spirits?
With the monster still lurking in the fields and danger closing in, can she uncover the truth before it's too late?
